miR-24 reduces serum lipid levels and inhibits brain tissue cells apoptosis of rats with cerebral infarction

Aim:To study miR-24 effect on cerebral infarction in rats.Material and Methods:Rat middle cerebral artery occlusion model (MCAO) was constructed. Intracerebroventricular stereotactic injection of miR-24 agomir/antagomir was performed in rat MCAO model. According to different experience, rats were divided into normal group, sham group, MCAO group, miR-24 agomir group and miR-24 antagomir group. Serum TCH, HDL and TG levels were detected. Results:Compared with normal group and sham group, decreased miR-24 relative expression (P < 0.05), increased cerebral infarction area percentage, apoptotic cells and Caspase 3 protein relative expression (P < 0.05) were found in MCAO group, miR-24 agomir group and miR-24 antagomir group. TC, TG and HDL-C levels of MCAO group and miR-24 antagomir group were higher than those of normal group and sham group (P < 0.05). Compared with MCAO group, increased miR-24 relative expression (P < 0.05), decreased TC, TG and HDL-C levels, cerebral infarction area percentage, number of apoptotic cells and Caspase 3 expression (P < 0.05) was found in miR-24 agomir group, and an opposite result was observed in miR-24 antagomir group. Conclusion:miR-24 reduces serum TCH, HDL and TG levels and inhibits brain tissue cells apoptosis of rats with cerebral infarction.
