Mn1 Gene Overexpression In Multiple Meningioma And Comparison With Typical-Atypic Meningiomas

Abstract

Aim
This study aimed to test whether MN1 expression is associated with meningioma multiplicity and to compare its distribution across typical and atypical forms. We investigate MN1 gene expression levels in multiple meningiomas and compares these levels across solid, typical, and atypical meningiomas.

Material and Methods
MN1 expression was evaluated immunohistochemically, rather than by molecular or genetic analysis, to determine its potential association with meningioma multiplicity and histopathological grade. A total of 69 meningioma patients were included in the study, divided into three groups: 25 with multiple meningiomas, 19 with atypical meningiomas, and 25 with typical meningiomas. The groups were analyzed for MN1 gene expression levels, age, gender, tumor location and size, solitary or multiple status, and histopathological grade..

Results
Of the 69 patients included in the study, 49 were female and 20 were male. The mean age of the patients examined was 59, and the mean tumor size was 38x41 mm. In terms of location of the tumor, the most convexity location was seen in all 3 groups and 9 patients had seizure complaints. Twenty-two of the patients were WHO grade 2 and 47 were WHO grade 1. MN1 gene expression was scored as 0, 1, or 2 based on the percentage of staining. Obtained data were compared statistically.

Conclusion
This study suggests a potential role of the MN1 gene in meningioma development, particularly in females. Although no correlation was found between MN1 gene expression and the multiplicity of meningiomas, the findings provide a basis for future research on MN1\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s role in meningioma pathogenesis. No significant association was observed between MN1 expression and meningioma multiplicity, suggesting that MN1 may not contribute to the development of multiple lesions.
