Letter to Editor Regarding: Dry-Field Maneuver, An Important Addition to the Neuroendoscopic Hemostatic Armamentarium

Abstract

Intraventricular hemorrhage remains a challenging complication of neuroendoscopic procedures because bleeding can rapidly obscure the operative field and compromise safe surgical progression. We read with interest the study by Bolat et al., which reported long-term outcomes of the dry field maneuver in 13 patients undergoing neuroendoscopic procedures. The technique achieved complete hemorrhage control without procedure related neurological or vascular complications, with an average follow-up of 5 years. These findings support the dry-field maneuver as a valuable rescue technique when conventional irrigation and coagulation fail. Previous PubMed indexed studies have similarly demonstrated its feasibility and safety in controlling severe intraventricular hemorrhage. Future multicenter studies should compare this technique with alternative hemostatic strategies and establish standardized indications, safety parameters, and long-term outcomes.
