Abstract

We comment on the recently published nomogram developed by Zeng et al. for predicting recurrence after burr-hole drainage in patients with chronic subdural hematoma. Although the study addresses an important clinical issue, several methodological aspects require clarification. These include apparent inconsistencies between reported statistical estimates, uncertainty regarding Glasgow Outcome Scale coding, and limitations related to external validation and the timing of predictor availability. Clarifying these issues would improve the transparency, reproducibility, and clinical interpretation of the proposed prediction model. This correspondence aims to facilitate a more accurate understanding and appropriate application of the nomogram in clinical practice and future research.
